43 students In Garissa county face challenges over form 0ne admission

Forty three students in Garissa sub-county who sat last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education have not reported to their respective high schools. According to the sub-county education officer Ali Baithul most of those yet to report cited lack of school fees while others opted for Quran schools while some have joined technical institutions.

In a door-to-door operation conducted by Waberi West Chief Yussuf Sheikh Ali, they managed to nab two students while one managed to escape. One of those nabbed scored 178 marks and was admitted at Shill Secondary School in Fafi but was unable to report to his new school as his parents could not raise the required school fees.

The family said they rely on less than 10 goats and if they were to be sold, that would devastate them. The second student who scored 294 marks said he did not bother to follow up on which school he was admitted after he lost his father who was the family’s breadwinner.
