Beware of Possible Flooding
The residents around Masinga dam and Kiambere dam have been given two days to relocate to highland areas following the possible over flooding of the dam due to ongoing heavy rains.
Speaking on a press conference on Tuesday 15, Energy Cabinet Secretary, Charles Keter, said the dam is filled up to 1056.5m and currently the dam stands at 1055.53m above the sea level. He further added that once Kiambere dam overflows, it is possible for the water to splash over to Garrisa town and further to lower Tana Delta.
This comes in the wake of the latest catastrophes of dam bursting from Makueni dam and Patel dam in Nakuru. The villages are inhabited by almost 3000 people.
