Graduate Police Constables to Receive Pay Rise.
Police Constables who have graduated with a degree will from now on receive the same salary as Police Inspectors. This comes after a ruling by the Employment and Labour Court.
In a letter to the National Treasury, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and the commission graduate in 2018, police constables complained of discrimination by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) and expressed concerns that colleagues with whom they had graduated at the same time had already had their pay raised.
They complained that this fact subjected them to ridicule, mockery and unfair treatment by their fellow officers from other disciplined forces in Kenya.
Former Inspector General Joseph Boinnet opposed the move to raise the salaries stating that they should be paid based on their rank and not their qualifications.
