KCPE results to be out in less than 30 days
There is a possibility of KCPE results coming out earlier than last year. The papers of the one million candidates who sat for their exams will be marked using the optical mark recognition machine [OMR] acquired by the Kenya national examinations council [KNEC]
The OMR machine was used for the first time in marking exams last year thus making it more efficient due to last years experience. Over 5,834 examiners will mark the English and Kiswahili essays. The machine will then speed up the tallying of the exams previously marked by examiners.
Kenya national examination council [knec] has done several tests on the OMR machine efficiency and is sure of a faster and accurate marking. OMR will capture marked data from candidate’s answer sheets using specialized scanning.
While launching the 2018 examinations last week at Pangani girls, KNEC chairman professor George Magoha said this year’s results might come earlier. ‘We must again prepare to receive results early because of what we have done to Insha and Composition’. He said.
This happens as KCSE exams continue with the number of pregnant candidates continue to increase as from last week.
