Leaders come together To Mourn the Death that has claimed 55lives in the Fort Ternan Accident
An accident has claimed 55 lives at the fort ternan at the Kisumu –Muhoroni highway in kericho Bomet county .the Homeboyz Sacco bus which was enrouting kakamega fell into a slope at 4:00 am 0n Tuesday 10th October claiming 42 lives instantly as the number kept on increasing to 55 with time.
According to sources the bus hit a guard rail plunging down the slope a few meters from the road.
Politicians and national leaders have condoled with the family and friends of those who lost relatives
In his message president Uhuru expressed his heartfelt condolences.
“My heartfelt condolences to the families of fellow Kenyans who lost their lives in a tragic road accident at fort ternan in Kericho County this morning and wish those in hospital quick recovery” Uhuru said.
Raila Odinda also expressed his message on twitter “I send my deepest condolences to the friends and families who have lost their loved ones in the horrific accident that occurred at fort ternan. May the souls of all the departed rest in eternal peace ’.I appeal to police officers to arrest the return of madness on our roads.’ Raila tweeted. Francis meja the boss of the National transport and safety Authority said that the vehicle wasn’t licensed.
The survivors said that the bus was carrying more than its capacity and they could not complain since the crew was very arrogant.
This comes days after research indicates that accident has risen by 8% compared to 2017by this time.
