Mourners and villagers asked to keep off billionaire Murungi’s burial.
The burial of the business tycoon Wilfred Murungi has left residents of Kiurani village in Maara constituency puzzled as only a few invited guests were allowed to attend the deceased billionaire’s send-off on Tuesday.
Contrary to the villager's expectations of a colorful send-off for Wilfred Murungi who was the founder and the chairman of Mastermind Tobacco Kenya Limited, So guarded was the ceremony that even the close relatives who were uninvited could not give their last attributes. Tight security had been deployed hence journalists who had expected to cover the event joined the mourners and villagers as they peeped over the fence to get a glance of the occasion.
The conspicuous choppers and the hearse that had ferried the deceased body were the only peculiar evidence that it was the burial of a venerable. The arbitrary in the dailies had indicated that Murungi’s memorial service would be held at Saint Cathedral in Nairobi, two days after his private burial and next to his wife who had died in 2010 and who was also laid to rest privately with only a few attending the burial ceremony.
