New Twist on Monica’s Death Emerge
Close relatives and friends to the slain Monica have raised concern on the marital status of the late Monica, claims which her father has refuted. According to her relatives, Monica was married to South Sudanese politician and warlord Daniel Awet Akot.
Paul Ngarama Monica’s father, who worked as a newspaper vendor in Juba in 2013 has denied the allegations terming them as misleading and might hinder the ongoing investigations about his daughter’s killers. Speaking on Monday afternoon, Paul Ngarama agreed that the Sudanese politician was a close friend to the family and that he knew him in person. ‘Mr Aukot is my friend and has helped me establish numerous churches in Rumbek, Juba and other parts of southern Sudan.’
Investigations by police have it that, Monica Kimani Irungu and Brian Kassaine their neighbor, used to school together in Kenya Polytechnic.
According to sources, a year after Monica Graduated from the Kenya polytechnic in 2013, her dad invited her to Rumbek. She later got employed at the Governor’s office where she became the ‘governor’s favorite’ as her father puts it. She later on ventured into business and later in 2017 she started her own interior designs business where she majored in beauty products and won contracts from the Sudan government with the help of Mr. Akot. With the booming business, she acquired properties within Nairobi and its environs and also took after Mr. Akot’s properties in kilimani and kileleshwa respectively. It is said that Monica travelled with lots of money on her Nairobi trip before meeting her death, but the police say they did not find any cash in her apartment.
Monica Kimani was murdered on Wednesday 19th September where her neck was slit and body dumped in a bathtub with running water.
Three suspects are in police custody awaiting investigations by detectives.
