Police Officer in Court Over Murder
A police officer in Homa Bay was on Thursday arraigned in court and charged with the murder of a man who was killed under mysterious circumstances. The officer is said to have committed on 20th November, 2018.
According to witnesses, Robert Otieno stabbed the deceased with a knife on the neck several times using a knife. He had kept the knife on his pocket and had been carrying it before committing the offence.
The deceased, George Odhiambo is said to have died on the spot. According to reports, Otieno was attached to Pangani police station by the time he committed the offence.
It is still not clear how he had managed to go to Homa Bay with a pistol, which he was carrying on that fateful day.
The suspects request to be released on bail was declined by the High Court Judge, Joseph Karanja. The prosecution also opposed the request, arguing that the suspect is a dangerous person in the society.
The prosecution also argued that the suspect’s life is in danger since the general publicwas also yearning for his blood.
The suspect will be remanded at Homa Bayn GK prison until January 21 next year when the court will decide on his bond application.
