Stop Delocalization Process

As a way of curbing indiscipline cases which have become rampant in schools for the past few weeks, the senate education committee has come out and urged the ministry of education together with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to refrain from delocalization of school heads.

According to the committee chair Christopher Lang’at(Bomet) the transfers maybe the main cause of unrest and arsons in schools. He added that the committee has proof that students are taking such action due to the transfers of school heads which took effect early this year.

The committee also expressed their fears that alcohol and drug abuse among the students might be one of the factors leading to school fires.

Statistics given by Nyanza police commander Leonard Katana shows that the region has been on the lead in fire incidences. More than 8,000 students in Nyanza region 2,050 are from Kisumu County forcing schools to close indefinitely.

Katana issued a stern warning to bodaboda operators alleged to be used by students to buy petrol which is used in burning of schools premises.

More than 47 students linked to arson in schools have been arrested as police continue with investigation in the affected schools in order to establish the cause.
