Women Demand Breastfeeding Rights
As the debate on whether women should breastfeed in the public or not goes viral on social media, the Kenya Federation of Women Lawyer FIDA has asked the government to come up with policies that will help lactating mothers to breast feed their babies without restriction in public places.
Demonstrating in Nairobi on Tuesday, they condemned the recent act whereby a woman was harassed in olive hotel for breast feeding her baby. The activists said that women rights have been violated, since there is no specific places set aside for breast feeding.
However the hotel’s manager Moses Wambua has apologized to the victim, saying women rights should be upheld to the latter promising to create a place for breast feeding mothers.
