Migori County has been thrown into mourning following the death of a five-year-old girl in a tragic accident involving a county-owned ambulance. The incident occurred at Oyuma trading center in Suna East sub-county on Tuesday evening.
According to Migori County police Commander Mark Wanjala, the driver of the ambulance lost control of the vehicle while it was moving towards Migori town and hit the little girl who was playing on the verandah of her house at the trading center. The minor was pronounced dead on the spot, and her body was transferred to the Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary pending police investigations.
The driver of the ambulance sustained injuries in the accident and was alone in the vehicle when the tragedy occurred. Investigations are currently underway to establish what transpired before the fatal accident.
The incident has sparked a public outcry in Migori County, with residents calling for urgent action to address the rising cases of road accidents in the area. County police commander Mark Wanjala has called on all road users to adhere to traffic rules and remain cautious to avoid accidents.
