Organizational Background: Imani Radio and TV Ministries

Imani Radio is a partner ministry of Faith Radio in the U.S.A. It was established on 4th May 2005, the first transmission from Imani radio in Kenya hit the airwaves across the north rift western Kenya.

Our mission is to make disciples of all nations and to see people saved, healed, set free, equipped, empowered and serving.

It was the first Christian Radio station in Western Kenya and the first radio signal to reach the pastoral community of Pokot and Turkana. Within the first few weeks of broadcasting, we were bombarded with numerous congratulatory messages from the body of Christ in and around Kitale town.

Most people were so excited that God had brought an instrument of spiritual nourishment and particularly ministering to lost souls tormented by the enemy and setting them free through his word.

Imani Radio and TV Ministries cover an approximate potential of 7 million listeners in Kenya and Eastern Uganda while about 2 million of these are tuned in to our broadcasts at any given time. With her radio covering the towns and regions in the North Rift, Western Kenya, Parts of Nyanza and Eastern Uganda.

The new frequency in Kapchorwa covers a bigger part of Eastern and Northern parts of Uganda. The Kapchorwa based Imani radio covers eight key regions in eastern Uganda to include, Bugisu, Busoga, Sebei, Teso, Lango, Mbale, Iganga, Soroti, Karamoja, e.t.c.
Imani Radio was initially given shelter at the International Christian Ministries before we got our own land which we constructed and moved in in the later part of 2008.

It was founded with the purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through radio and T.V media. “Imani” is the Swahili word for “faith,” which is found in our mission verse, Romans 10:17. “So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

Our mandate is to spread the Gospel according to Matthew28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.

The station was founded on a strong faith in Christ, and it is mainly supported by friends and Christians of good-will. We have 3 stations with over 10m listeners in the North Rift, Western Kenya and Turkana. We have another station in Uganda situated in Kapchorwa town on the slopes of Mt. Elgon.

Our desire is that those who have not heard the Good News get an opportunity to receive the Gospel through radio. In addition, this station also acts as a refueling station for spiritual nourishment for believers.

There are many people who have not been reached with the Gospel, especially in the areas that we are broadcasting in. Currently, the indigenous people of Pokot are receiving our broadcasts for the first time since independence. We have had countless testimonies from the members of this pastoralist community on what the Lord is doing in their lives since we began reaching them with the Gospel.

We desire to provide high-quality broadcasting with an emphasis on God’s Word so that our listeners may be reached with the true Gospel of Christ. This will enable our listeners to build their faith in Christ Jesus.

We emphasize that people should learn to live by faith since the Bible says without faith we cannot see God. As a station, we live by faith in regard to our day-to-day running. We trust the Lord for donors to give to the service of the Lord.

The station steers clear of volatile political issues. At the same time, it brings credible information to its audience so as to strive to enhance Christian perspectives on such issues. The station highlights issues that lead to spiritual nourishment and economic empowerment for the communities.
