Police officers in Kajiado are holding a 34-year-old woman for the alleged murder of her three-month-old baby and the alleged hiding of the infant’s body in a bucket of water.
According to police sources, Felister Mumo was taken into custody on Friday after her Class Seven daughter reported the infant’s death at the Kajiado Police Station.
The little girl told the police that her mother killed the baby, put the body in a plastic bucket that she later filled with water and put under her bed, and then left it there.
The foul odor emanating from the decomposing body has prevented me from living in our home. According to reports, the girl told police officers, “I couldn’t hold stinging of the room any longer.”
A group of police officers from the Kajiado Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations went to the house on Saturday and found the infant’s decomposing body hidden under the bed. It is believed that Mrs. Mumo suffocated her infant to death.
According to police, the suspect will undergo a mental and general medical examination at a hospital. The body was later carried to the mortuary of Kajiado County Referral Hospital.
She seldom interacts with her neighbors. One of the residents stated, “We know she lives with her daughter, but we don’t know much about her.” Daudi Loronyokwe, Commander of the Kajiado Central Police, stated that investigations were currently underway to determine the reason for the murder.
We are looking into the strange incident. It shocks me that a woman can kill her child and keep the body hidden in the house,” Mr. Loronyokwe said.
