Ministry of Education has reduced capitation each school receives due to a shorter academic term. In anticipation of Tuesday’s resumption of school, Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha stated that the Ministry has lowered the allowances each school receives.

Magoha mentioned that the government had made sure that every elementary and secondary school received its capitation by Friday while speaking to the media at Kereri Girls High School in Kisii town.

According to Magoha, the administration has already set aside 25.9% of the budget for capitation. Magoha also encouraged school administrators not to dismiss children for failing to pay their fees.

The education CS added that the government was collaborating with private schools to transform their primary schools into junior secondary schools and that the government would commission the second phase of CBC classroom building this week.

He urged the incoming administration to increase the number of classrooms so that kids had a place to learn.
