Detectives are investigating an incident in which a nursing student at Kabarak University in Nakuru was found dead on the road on Friday morning. The third-year student Derrick Malumasa Sabuni, 23, was found with stab wounds along the Nakuru-Mogotio road near Kampi Ya Moto trading centre, police said. His colleagues at the university told the police they found him on the road, picked him and rushed him to Kabarak University health centre where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased had a serious stab wound on his stomach inflicted by a sharp object and by unknown people, police said. Detectives suspect the victim was fatally stabbed during a robbery mission past midnight because his belongings were missing at the scene. Police visited the hospital and the scene as part of the probe into the murder. The motive of the murder is yet to be known. The body was moved to Nakuru Municipal Annex Mortuary awaiting postmortem and further investigations. No arrest has been made so far. Detectives were also expected to revisit the scene as part of the probe into the murder.
Elsewhere, in Transmara South, police re-arrested a suspect in the killing of a 45year-old woman at Kilae sublocation, Moyoi location in Narok. He was initially arrested by members of the public who tied him up with a rope. Police found the body of the woman lying in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on the head, a deep cut on the right hand at the elbow, a cut on the abdomen and a deep cut on the right leg. Some of the exhibits recovered from the suspect’s compound include a pair of gumboots, a slasher with a crowbar, all stained with blood, police said. The body of the woman is at Lolgorian Level IV Hospital awaiting autopsy, while the suspect is in police custody pending arraignment
