The ongoing marking of KCSE exams has been ongoing for a while, but was disrupted by protests of striking teachers. The KCSE marking centres displayed their enrage at St Francis Girl’s High School stating poor pay regardless of working for long hours.

Among the subjects, CRE paper one marking was boycotted due to the complaints stated by the examiners. The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu led a team of senior officials to intermediate and curb the crisis.

This was followed by reports over the fuss caused at one of the 35 marking centres.

The protesting examiners however remained adamant even after the CS tried to come in between to solve the situation. He was accompanied by the Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) boss David Njengere and the Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia.
