The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Paul Rono, has announced that the government has already allocated two billion shillings for maize seed subsidies. According to Rono, the funds are aimed at reducing the cost of inputs for farmers and also increasing maize production in the country.

The secretary added that the program is part of the government’s efforts to ensure improved food security, especially at this time when farmers are preparing for the planting season.
He also urged farmers to embrace the program and purchase discounted seeds from the Kenya Seed company, stressing that the government is working to ensure that the seeds are available on time and at affordable prices across the country.
