Psychosocial Support
In collaboration with the District Hospital, we have Doctors and health technicians who come to do live programs every Tuesday that touches on most primary healthcare issues and on yearly basis in conjunction with the Faith family in the U.S.A. we have carried out medical camps in the marginalized and remote areas e.g. Mt Elgon so as to reach the unreached with the gospel through our Medicare camps.
In addition, Hospital ministry is done occasionally in that the Imani family visits the sick in the Hospital to pray, encourage, comfort and spend time with them as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ in Mathew 25:36b “I was sick and you looked after me”
Many lives have been saved and brought to Christ through this ministry; here is one such testimony:-
“I Teresia Nianguye had been mentally sick for a period of ten years and even doctors had proposed to take me to a mental school. But I remember one day when I was admitted at the Kitale district hospital, a team from Imani radio visited, prayed and gave us portable 88.8fm radiosand I remember God healing me through their ministry to the Hospital. I thank God for Imani radio because they are a blessing to the society especially the sick because the entire society neglects the sick and the less fortunate and for Imani radio doing such a thing of visiting the sick it is a great thing because I have been there and I know the pinch.”
Different activities are carried out under this:
The Prison Ministry
For the past 7 years, the Imani family has been visiting the prisons: Kapenguria main prison, Kitale medium & women prison in Kenya and Kapchorua Main prison in Uganda to preach the good news while giving them hope through the love of Christ as commanded by God in Mathew 25: 36c “ I was in Prison and you came to visit me”. The programme carries out psychosocial counseling services to the inmates, preaching the Gospel of Salvation, hope and restoration, distributing the prisoners with small solar powered radios, Bibles & Bible tracts, Soaps & Sanitary towels to the women. The above has enhanced behavior change & spiritual growth in that many inmates have confessed Christ as their personal savior. Some have come back to us after their release from prison to testify on their changed lives and to let us know how they were engaged in gainful employment. Here is a narration from Paul Boda one of our strong listeners who learnt of Imani fm after our visit to Kitale Medium prisons.
“I had lived a very miserable life without direction & meaning for 11 years in prison but I thank God because of Imani Radio for visiting the Kitale medium prisons in the year 2009 because that is when I gave my life to God and started trusting in Him for everything and since then God miraculously helped me out of the prison and now I serve him with all my heart and soul waiting for his second coming.”

Agriculture and extension services
Through this programme, we have an extension agricultural officer that visits every Thursday to teach through radio on the best agricultural practices. Just like the health programme, the agriculture live programme is also interactive and listeners are given the opportunity to ask questions that they have encountered during their farming. Besides teaching through radio, ICOP through other partners have distributed fertilizers, seeds, farm inputs to farmers through the churches. The above program has contributed to the increase of farm production leading to food security.
Women empowerment program
Imani Radio runs several activities on Widows empowerment: Live interactive programme that teaches widows on general health and nutrition, public health and sanitation, entrepreneurship, leadership and human rights. Imani reaches out to idows by empowering them through giving sheep.
