South Africa hopes to become the first country in Africa by hosting the women’s world cup tournament. South Africa will submit an application to host the women’s world cup tournament for the first time in Africa in 2027.

South Africa is the only country on the African continent to host the men’s world cup in 2010. Spain became the eighth nation to win the tournament and the first European nation to win a World Cup hosted outside its home continent: all previous World Cups held outside Europe had been won by South American nations.

After defeating the host Morocco in the final of the African Cup for women in Rabat, Morocco, in July, South Africa became the continent’s first-ever champion.

South Africa intends to contend with the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany for the right to host the women’s world cup in 2027.
