The Wantam Movement has launched a digital voting platform that will allow its supporters in Kenya and across the diaspora to participate in selecting the movement’s preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The platform, dubbed the Wantam Digital Election System, is intended to provide members with a direct role in determining the movement’s presidential flagbearer as political preparations for the 2027 polls gather pace.

According to the movement, supporters will be required to register on the digital platform before taking part in the online voting exercise. The initiative aims to expand participation by ensuring that Kenyans living abroad, alongside those within the country, can contribute to the candidate selection process.

Movement officials say the system has been developed to promote transparency, inclusivity, and democratic participation by giving supporters a greater voice in shaping the movement’s political direction.

The launch comes as political parties and lobby groups continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with several leaders expected to seek the country’s highest office.

The Wantam Movement believes the adoption of digital technology will enhance public engagement while making the candidate selection process more accessible and efficient.

The movement is expected to release further details on voter registration, eligibility criteria, voting timelines, and measures that will be used to verify participants and safeguard the integrity of the digital election.

Political observers say the initiative reflects the increasing use of technology in Kenya’s political landscape, where digital platforms are playing a growing role in mobilizing supporters and facilitating public participation ahead of major elections.
