More than 1.2 million older persons and people living with severe disabilities are set to benefit as the Government rolls out the June 2026 Inua Jamii cash transfer payments.

The Government has released Ksh.2.426 billion to facilitate payments under the June 2026 cycle of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, benefiting more than 1.2 million vulnerable Kenyans across the country.
In a statement issued on August 4, 2026, the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs announced that the funds will support payments to 1,213,156 beneficiaries, including older persons aged 70 years and above and people living with severe disabilities.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that the disbursement of funds commenced on August 3, 2026, with each beneficiary receiving Ksh.2,000 for the June payment cycle.
Principal Secretary Joseph Motari said the Inua Jamii programme remains one of the Government’s flagship social protection initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and improving the welfare of vulnerable households.
He noted that the programme continues to provide critical financial support to elderly citizens and persons living with severe disabilities, enabling them to meet essential needs such as food, healthcare and other household expenses.
“The Inua Jamii programme continues to play a critical role in supporting vulnerable households by providing regular financial assistance that improves their quality of life and promotes dignity among beneficiaries,” the ministry said.
According to the State Department, the programme has become an important safety net for thousands of families, particularly those caring for elderly persons and individuals living with severe disabilities.

Government Reaffirms Commitment
The Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring timely and consistent cash transfers as part of its broader strategy to strengthen Kenya’s social protection system and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable citizens.
The Ministry said the programme not only eases the financial burden on households but also promotes dignity, social inclusion and economic security for older persons and people living with severe disabilities.
With the latest disbursement now underway, beneficiaries across the country are expected to continue receiving their payments through the designated payment channels.
