Police in Uasin Gishu County have launched a manhunt for a subordinate staff member at a private hospital in Eldoret City who is accused of defiling a minor while she was receiving treatment at the facility.
According to police, the alleged incident occurred on July 21, 2026, at Living Room International Hospital along the Eldoret–Kaptagat Road. The matter was later reported by the girl’s parents at Ainabkoi Police Station, prompting investigations.
Ainabkoi Police Commander Charles Getende confirmed the incident, saying detectives have been assigned to investigate the case and apprehend the suspect.
Police identified the suspect as a cleaner who had reportedly worked at the hospital for nearly ten years before disappearing following the alleged incident.
Suspect Traced to Kitale
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect fled shortly after the alleged offence.
According to Commander Getende, investigators traced the suspect’s last known mobile phone signal to Kitale Town in neighbouring Trans Nzoia County, where police believe he may have sought refuge.
The police commander appealed to members of the public to volunteer any information that could help investigators locate and arrest the suspect.
“We are appealing to anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact investigators. Every lead will be treated with confidence,” Getende said.
Family Says Child Left Traumatized
According to the victim’s family, the minor had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and was instructed to provide a stool sample.
The parents allege that while the child was using the hospital washroom, she encountered the cleaner, who allegedly sexually assaulted her.
They said the incident has left the minor deeply traumatized and unable to resume her normal school routine.
When contacted for comment, Living Room International Hospital Director Titus Boit declined to discuss the matter, saying police investigations are ongoing.
Investigations Continue
Police say investigations are ongoing as officers pursue the suspect and gather evidence to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities have assured the family that every effort is being made to ensure justice is served and have urged the public to support the investigation by sharing any relevant information.
